Over the years I have enjoyed many reality shows; most of them have been in questionable in quality and taste. I am proud to say that I have never watched Laguna Beachor it’s spinoff, The Hills, because frankly if I wanted to watch spoiled rich kids in scripted situations I would watch a) The Simple Life or b)My Super Sweet Sixteen. Or you know, walk outside my home. Furthermore, I have read enough about both shows to know that some of the kids aren’t even that rich! I mean isn’t that the entire premise of the show? Don’t lie to me MTV, that’s a priveledge reserved only for guys with nice eyes that show a passing interest in me.
Now I love tabloids and gossip blogs but I hate how all these Hillspeople are everywhere. (I am anti-pseudo celebrity in general, but since they’re like the only ones calling the media every time they walk down Melrose, I guess I’m stuck with them.) I am especially troubled that Us Weekly, a periodical I refer to as “the paper”, is giving them so much press. (And if Us Weekly caters to them, I shudder to think of what In Touch or Life & Style has to offer.) So what’s with this whole Heidi/Lauren fight? (Is she officially “Lauren” now? I had just gotten used to “L.C.”) I understand that they had a falling out over Heidi’s boyfriend, but who really cares? This isn’t a real celebrity feud, it’s like the fourth worst rivalry in the Tri-Delt house.
Now before all the haters come over, let me say that I am extremely jealous that everyone on this show seems to have a better career trajectory that I do, even though I actually graduated college (early) and am relatively smart. If only I was born rich and blonde and lived in a town that MTV deemed fabulous so that I could be spun off into my show where I work at Teen Vogue and live in Park La Brea.
