Miami Vice

Since I thought the past few episodes of Days were kind of boring (Lexie and Abe reuniting, Belle going to nursing school, Lucas almost frozen to death, another baby subplot, etc), I thought I would go to the vault (YouTube) and pull out a “lost classic”.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you The Miami Montage from 1985.

Whoever wrote this storyline should be hired back immediately.  Let’s break it down:

  • Hope and Bo with big Eighties hair and sleeveless scuba suits.
  • Bo barefoot kicking Steve and the badly choreographed knife fight.  “They’re breakdance fighting!”
  • The little twirly-whirly move that Bo does with the knife.  (He did the same thing with the gun that he wrestled away from Bart when he ambushed him and Andre on the roof.)
  • Hope yelling “Get him Bo!”  I could watch that all day.
  • Josh Taylor in his original incarnation as Sonny Crocket Chris.
  • Chris and Shane (in a tux) in a helicopter. (Any storyline that utilizes a chopper is gold.)
  • Shannon Tweed on a boat!
  • Kimberly sleeping with Victor (back when the writers thought he was a viable character).
  • Bo throwing Shannon Tweed off the boat.  Timeless.
  • Josh Taylor jumping out of a helicopter. I’d like to see Roman do this, but seeing as he can barely move his face, I think this is out of the question.
  • Shane using a ladder to depart from the helicopter and shoot Patch.
  • Patch’s backwards flip off the boat.  (9.5 from the Russian judge.)
  • The entire sequence set to “Just a Job To Do”.
  • The fact that this could very well be a movie that I would watch on TNT on a rainy, Sunday afternoon.
  • No Belle or Shawn.

Yay! First post. I registered this name by accident, because the World Press powers that be decided to nix all capitals and put dashes through Lance Woodward Spencer, (The Manager). I couldn’t settle for that so I went with something more baroque. However, the essential punctuation of ?! was lost. Picture, if you will, my best Gordon Thompson Shakespearean twirl whilst holding a pre-corked flute of Dom as I exclaim, “HWhhy?!” and all meaning is restored….
But A Bang-Bang-Bang-and I digress-it’s just a post I do. How great was that explosion? Ya can’t beat soap special effects! I only wish that Grand Theft Auto- Vice City’s own Tommy Vercetti would have joined in on the fun! Ya know, if you get far enough in the game, you can totally steal a chopper. Imagine that element added to the showdown. Talk about chopper breakdance fighting–in the air–possibly with M&N looming in the background while Britters takes her (soon to be taken FROM her) kids to go boating without life jackets.

And at some point, JR Ewing will appear with Miss Ellie as a human shield. “They won’t shoot an old lady, Mama.”

I’d love to say you’ll get this response while at work, but apparently my comments must “await moderation” WTF?

“Sue Ellen, you’re a drunk, a tramp, and an unfit blogger.”

Oh, nevermind. No moderation. I guess I’m in the club now, no problem. What is this, Deep? Tao? Perhaps La Mirage? Maybe Kyle’s. I can hear the Upstairs jazz now….

You have to submit three comments before it auto approves you, but now you are approved. And yes, this is just like Kyle’s. Although not as warm and inviting as Shooters.

Yes! I love approval. Ahhh, Shooters. It was warm and inviting. Although maybe it always seems that way when you wait tables alongside Gina Gershon and get paid in coke by a madame….

[...] Salem wisely by putting people on notice: first Victor and then EJ.  Remember back in the day when Kim slept with Victor to save Shane’s life?  Of course, her mom slept with Victor, too (thus producing Bo) so [...]

[...] there for a lot of early Bope adventures, although it would have been nice for Steve to mention holding them both at knife point (in scuba gear no less) but I’ll take that beautiful clip of S&K sending them off into the sunset.  I remember [...]
