I remember when Sex & the City first started, I was excited because I love me some SJP, but I am also a huge Kristin Davis fan. Granted, I only knew her from her (short-lived) arc on Melrose Place, but her Brooke was lightning in a bottle. My favorite character was Amanda meaning that I could barely tolerate Alison, so when Brooke entered the picture to make Alison’s life a living hell, I was actively entertained. Granted, I have no idea what Brooke (or Alison or Amanda or Sam or the many other ladies) saw in Billy, but it was fun while it lasted.
In memory of Brooke, here’s a great video I found. “You don’t have enough vacation time to go to the movies!” Preach it, Amanda. Bonus: Alison in a track suit.

“…two pea-brains and a coupla sluts!”
I wasn’t able to see the video, but Brooke’s final hours were the stuff of tragedy. I know them well. From being locked out of her hotel in only her gym clothes, to sleeping in her car, to stealing canapes after Lowell rebuffs her with, “…You’re dad’s dead, you’ve got no money, what would be the point?” to the final robe-clad showdown with Amanda, to her staggering on the street corner as an unknown extra says, “Move it, lady–you’re in the way…” Her pool death was one of the most random/sad/funny/off-putting deaths ever. (And I’m including Diana Muldaur taking a header down that empty elevator shaft on L.A. Law) Seriously, Brooke’s plunge haunted me for days. It was so senseless and quick, and because I am clumsy I thought I could be lookin’ at my funeral right there…. To lighten things up, an old friend and I would often recite her whole final drunkalogue while at the Westridge Pool and finish the scene by falling in the shallow end. Good Times.
Thus, I raise my Alison Parker freezer bottle of rail vodka, and I pour a little out for Brooke Armstrong-Campbell–who ended up literally circling the drain.
