Just a Simple Girl with a Dream

I would like to introduce a new column to JaSGWaD: True Confessions.

Tonight’s Installment: How I power-voted for Cameron Mathison on this week’s Dancing with the Stars.  You know what? I’m not ashamed.  I’m shallow.  I own this and according to my account settings at ABC.com, I am also the proud owner of 6 email votes–5 of which went to Mr. Ryan Lavery (I threw 1 to Mel B because I desperately want Victoria Beckham to show up in the audience). 

Anyway, I love Dancing with the Stars, I don’t even pretend to hide this fact.  I figure that I have so much street cred stored up from exclusively watching HBO original programming all through college that I can afford to watch DwtS and well…every other show that I talk about on this blog. 

Here’s why I voted for Cameron: Is he the best dancer? No.  But does he try? Yes.  Is he ridiculously good looking? Of course.  Cameron is a slightly geeky guy in a gorgeous man’s body.  Watch him during the interview segments, he’s intense, but not in a scary Tom Cruise-way, more like “I’m really excited that my partner is wearing leg warmers, I get to jump around the dance floor, and Bachelor Bob Guiney is in the house!”  You know what I’m talking about.  Plus, he seems totally cool with how ridiculous the whole competition is.  He’s basically that Fraternity President that decides to go all out (in this case by wearing dance pants and heeled shoes) just to win some sorority talent show. 

I also root for Cameron because he’s partnered with Edyta who is my favorite pro ever.  She’s great, she’s pretty, she’s sweet and she’s unafraid of taking questionable fashion choices (the aforementioned leg warmers, shirts as dresses, costumes resembling the Princess Leia slave dancer ensemble).  Plus Edyta is the only pro who has been on this train for all five seasons but she’s never made it to “The Big Dance”.  Seriously, Edyta’s time is now.  If Peyton Manning can win a Super Bowl, Edyta can win DwtS.  Seriously, how can she not?  Tossing last week aside as a fluke, Cameron has the soap opera base and don’t ever underestimate soap fans (they keep this site afloat).

I close with this: So singular was I in my mission to keep Cameron on the show that I actually checked that dialidol website to see how he was doing.  Dialidol had him in first place and since Cameron was safe last night, I think I’m going to have to keep making the trip over there.
