Do you garden?

So right now I can’t figure out which character I hate more: Lulu or Leyla.  I think it’s a draw.  For real between these two drama queens I actually found The Lovahs tolerable.  Hell, I found Carly more tolerable.

I am sure that there must be Lulu fans out there but she’s written horribly.  As it stands right now, I don’t understand why she’s even on the show: I mean, we already have a Carly, now we’re saddled with Diet Carly, less filling and even more poorly written.  It’s bad enough that Lulu has (though not rightfully) inherited the Most Beautiful Girl in Port Charles crown from Brenda but she’s just so damn stupid.  She’s reckless and self-centered and everyone loves her for it.  I actually enjoyed Liz for the first time in forever for have the gall to call out St. Lulu in the barn.  I was extra pleased that my new favorite character, Nadine, joined in as well.  I think Nadine must represent The Audience because she sure as hell says what I think.  Just like everything else in PC, Lulu has made the entire Black & White Ball/Mob War crisis all about her.  Granted, Anthony Zacchara did show up to kill her, but he sure as hell isn’t sticking to script as he’s also tried to kill Spinelli, Nadine, Maxie, Nik and Emily and engaged in a meeting of the minds with Original Carly Classic.  It was so pathetic and obvious how Lulu was trying to play Spinelli into leaving the barn with her.  “We make a great team, Spinelli!”  No, no they don’t.  You know who does make a good team…

Sam and Jason.  Or Sam and anyone.  Say what you will about Sam (and really, there’s a lot you could say) but she’s not afraid to shoot a gun.  She’s also not afraid to wallow in self-pity and wear more than one ill-advised tank top, but to each their own.  Despite that, Sam is the kind of girl that Carly and Lulu want to be.  They want to be that girl in all the action, but they don’t like getting their hands dirty and they always wind up in more trouble than they’re worth.  Sam will just kill you and then go to a TV station and film a segment on the dangers of choking.

You know which new character is a complete waste of space?  Leyla.  She’s another classic “It’s all about me” characters that just grates.  Except whereas Lulu is brash and bold, Leyla is prissy and isn’t afraid to turn on the waterworks or create a scene by leaving the room during an impromptu medical procedure.   Oh, but she’s “tired” and is thinking about her “family leaving Iran”.  Really, Leyla?  You’re thinking about this while transfusing Adela’s boys?  The worst is that Patrick actually left to comfort her!  It’s a good thing that I already disliked him or he’d go straight to The Hate List.

Speaking of The Hate List, why did Emily just stand there like a jackass, frozen in time, while Nik got the crap beat out of him by Master Gardner, Anthony Zacchara?  She grabbed the gun at the last minute, but you know she’s just going to stand there and be like “No, no, don’t or I’ll just stand here and not shoot!”  If she were Sam, Anthony Zacchara would already be dead and she’d have the perfect story for Everyday Heroes: November Sweeps Edition.

It’s funny, I can see why people get really riled with the hate about Lulu and I absolutely agree that she’s become Carly-Lite but she just doesn’t bug me as much as Carly herself. I think it’s the lack of screeching. I still think she’s stupid and stunningly self-centered, but I can’t bring myself to care that much.

I too have been loving Nadine in the last few days, telling it like it is. I still think the actress is weak and the character is unnecessary, but she’s proved rather refreshing.
