So it’s not been the best day: my personal life is in shambles, despite all my power-voting, Cameron Mathison was voted off of DwtS, and Leyla and Lulu will apparently live to see another day (hour) on GH.
A lot has happened over the last few hours: Emily simpered, Nikolas is only a green spray tan away from Incredible Hulk status, Lulu and Carly grandstanded, Tracy hurt her back, Luke had a heart attack, Emily simpered some more, no one was able to subdue Anthony Zacchara although he appears to be smaller than Kelly Monaco, and Lucky finally learned what 3/4 of Port Charles has known for months: that Jason is Baby Jake’s father.
First of all, I love how Jason entered the barn/safe house at the precise moment that Sam was about to cut loose. “It’s not Sam’s truth…to tell!” was uttered with just the right note of Shatner over-dramatics (if one was impersonating Shatner on sleeping pills). So Lucky is understandably devastated and takes out his rage on The Lovahs while Sam looks on, occasionally bemoaning her inability to have children. Drink! That reminds me, I think the only think that would have made this whole reveal more perfect is if Sam would have had her gun in one hand and a cocktail in the other.
Then there’s Leyla. Apparently, she is a dead ringer (and I do mean “dead”) for Zacchara’s wife. Did Zacchara’s wife’s family escape Iran as well? Because Leyla’s did and she likes to bring this up during odd lulls in the conversation. I guess Ric must be recovering or dead because all of the medical staff is just wondering aimlessly around Wyndemere waiting to be cornered by a minute madman. Sure enough, Zacchara arrives, is transfixed by Leyla and then orders her to mark either Patrick or Robin for death. I’m glad she chose Patrick since Robin was shot during the last real-time Sweeps stunt. Like a dumbass, Leyla jumps in front of Patrick, taking a bullet for him. Patrick and Zacchara tussle and then Anthony leaves instead of shooting all of them. This is where Zacchara loses me: not that I advocate random shootings, but how crazy and fearful is this guy if he just lets everyone live? He would be the worst James Bond villain ever and that’s saying something. If he were really as crazy as everyone says he is, don’t you think he’d just be shooting people at random and asking questions later? If only Lainey were there to do a pysch evaluation on him.
In other news, Nadine continues to speak for me when she called out Lulu for making the whole situation with Zacchara about her. Unfortunately, she was shot down pretty quickly because Lulu is the lastest in a long line of inappropriate characters viewed as noble heroes (Carly, Jason, Sonny, etc). Seriously, how many times do people have to tell you that Zacchara doesn’t care about you anymore? It was just pathetic to see her yell out for Zacchara to come and grab her. It was like she was channeling Norma Desmond at the end of Sunset Boulevard with that one.
On the plus side, I think we’re almost finished with the party scenes which means that at least one other character will die, Skye will be able to take her hair down, and Nikolas will be barred from holding anymore gala balls at Wyndemere.
