Chris March of the Penguins

It was the best of times; it was the worst of times; Just Jack departed but Chris came marching in.  It was almost like the producers knew how much America would grow to love Chris March and kept him on hand just because.  I suppose that all of the fallen designers are kept in some sort of sequester until filming ends, but I’m so glad Chris was brought back instead of…well…the other three people that were eliminated before him (see, I’m blanking on their names…no one matters but Chris March!)

This week’s challenge involved women who had lost a lot of weight and their favorite pre-weight loss outfits.  The designers were to take these outfits and reconfigure them for their clients’ new bodies.  Normally, I don’t like these special challenges: design for your family member, design for your dog, design for Tiki Barber, etc, but this challenge was fun.  The women all seemed happy, they looked great, and you could tell they felt confident about themselves walking down the runway.

Steve was paired with the woman whose favorite outfit was her wedding dress.  Just call me Bob Mackie because I would have loved to have that dress.  Steve was horrified and bought ten dollars worth of black fabric to make the saddest looking pilgrim dress ever.  I was horrified for Steve’s client that a) her wedding dress was ruined (but I can’t feel too bad since she must have known what was up) and b) that she had to walk down the runway looking like Goody Proctor from The Crucible.  Seriously, if you would put her next to Cameron and Edyta in their Native American-inspired samba costumes you could recreate the first Thanksgiving.

So Christian won.  Good.  Now he won’t ever have to win again.

In other news, Ricky cried.  Drink!  I really like Joey Fatone’s outfit.  Oops, I mean Kevin.  In regular life I have seen people the look like Joey Fatone and I’ve met more than my fair share of people that look like Lance Bass so how come no one else looks like Justin Timberlake (besides Ryan Phillipe)?

By far the highlight of this episode was Tim Gunn exclaiming that he has made more than his fair share of bad decisions at 3 a.m.  Why oh why couldn’t he have said this during Season 2?  Santino would have had a field day.  Red Lobster with Andrae, y’all!
