So this is Christmas?

I admit, I’m a little underwhelmed by this year’s DOOL’s Christmas episode.  I just felt it was a little disjointed.  First of all, why is Marlena picking up dry cleaning on Christmas Eve (or is it Christmas Day)?  I know it was an elaborate setup to introduce the winner of I Wanna Be a Soap Star  clue the audience in that John may not actually be dead, but still.  Any what is up with Steve being the one to reel her in?  Just because he illegally and forcefully removed her deceased husband’s kidney does not make Steve her handler.

In other news, EJ and Stefano had a little Christmas party that actually warmed my heart.  I know he’s evil but I enjoy his enthusiasm for EJ and Gianni.  How adorable was Stefano trying to find a place for his new framed photo?  That reminds me: do you think Stefano trimmed his own tree or did he make Rolfe do it?  I am leaning more towards Stefano himself since Rolfe is obviously busy waking the dead downstairs.  I know we didn’t get a closeup of Stef’s tree but I wonder if he has little glass ornaments with all the names of his many, many children on them.  Hell, Stefano could trim a tree with ornaments just for all the dead kids.

Speaking of ornaments, when did Belle get one? And why doesn’t Sami have one?  I did enjoy the little shoutout the writers gave to the audience about Jeremy’s broken ornament and it being replaced next year.  Hopefully this Jeremy will look more like Michael T. Weiss.

Now here’s what I want to know: where was Chloe?  She drones on and on about how Salem is her home, but where are Craig and Nancy? Obviously not in Salem if Chloe’s lambing it up in a hotel.  I really enjoyed Marlena’s smackdown of her the other day.  Justified or not, I’m glad someone besides Belle has Chloe’s number.  I loved how Sami joined in, too.  I guess she’s just grateful not to be on the receiving end of one of Marlena’s tirades for once.  Seriously though, what was Chloe doing?  Skanking it up at Chez Rouge?  That’s like the only place besides Titan that Chloe is allowed to enter.

Also MIA: Lexie.  Now I’m pretty sure she’s off the show again, but it’s just so convient that she’s volunteering in another ward of the hospital.  The hospital she was fired from.  I guess she’s like poor Mickey who is also conspicuously absent at all holidays.

  1. The picking up the dry cleaning thing bugged me to no end. Couldn’t the writers simply have had Marlena be running late to head to the hospital (Roman already set it up that they were expecting her there) and that’s when she runs into Crystal?

  2. I think she even said that it was John’s dry cleaning that she was picking up. Um, yeah, I don’t really think there’s any hurry to pick that up.

  3. Especially not when she sent all his stuff to goodwill in the previous days. That said, this felt a hell of a lot more like Christmas than a certain other serial killing show I won’t mention. Lots of parties, lots of family together, the younger members of the cast being integrated.

The one thing I wonder about is why Cordy and the other sorority girls don’t keep asking why Max is at all Steph’s family events. I guess that would take some explaining.

  4. Yes, Days was so much better than GH when it came to Christmas. And yes, if I were Cordy I would wonder why Max was always around and if I were Morgan I would be really upset that I lost Max to his step niece. Ouch.

  5. [...] holiday episode? I think the Horton Ornament hanging gets more disappointing each year.   I thought last year’s was horrible, what with all the dry cleaning, but this one takes the cake.  First of all, I’m over Theo and his disappearing act.  [...]
