It’s so fierce I saw it coming two months ago

If you keep up with me at all, you know that I’m not much of a Christian fan–in fact he annoys me greatly.  There was that brief period of time where I didn’t want him to get voted off, just because I find him so irritating, but that time has passed.  With all that being said, I am both a) upset that he won Project Runway and b) somewhat resigned to this fate since it was evident from the jump.

Is it just me or did all the collections this year seem like they were inspired by Merchant Ivory period pieces?  Don’t get me wrong, the clothes were beautiful, but I longed for Chris March’s uber styled hair extensions.   Jillian based her clothes on armor, Rami sought out Joan of Arc for inspiration (as opposed to Chris March who was clearly going for more Joan Van Ark), whereas Christian nailed the foppish “Puss in Boots” meets “Three Musketeer” look.  I knew as soon as he brought those feathers down the runway that my girl Victoria Beckham would be all over it.  God bless her, but Michael Kors is right, she wears clothes that a lot of people can’t.  I guess she’s perfect for being Christian’s muse since he only designs for .02% of the population.  What am I talking about?  That never stopped John Galiano and look at him!

I did enjoy Jillian’s looks but she just comes off so boring.  She’s so metered and steady although she did show some personality with the model freakout.  I didn’t write about this last week, but did you guys check out her apartment?  I was jealous, especially when you compare it to the closet/half bath that Christian calls home.

Of all the designers, I really liked Rami the best, but then again, I enjoy Greek Mythology and he obviously enjoys invoking the gods of Mt. Olympus in his work.  I will admit to being bothered by all the criticism heaped upon him for designing the same thing over and over again.  Isn’t that most fashion houses?  Versace-low cut up top, tight, with a thigh high slit (just run a google image search on Liz Hurley in the late Nineties for more details), Chanel-the tweed, my God, the tweed, Pucci-wild prints and Ralph Lauren-snooze.  It’s his niche and he’s good at it.

I am also way too enamored of the judges.  I love Michael Kors and I want him to be my new BFF.  We can hang out at Smoothie King (I’ll be in a mini skirt and heels, he’ll wear his tailored black blazer and jeans) and then we’ll hit up a tanning bed.  Good times!  In other news, I have started to talk more and more like Heidi.  For instance, whenever I describe garments or accessories to my friends I be sure to let them know if they are “expensive” (and my eyes look as if they are about to pop out) or “home sewn” and/or “sad”.  I love that those are her two extremes.  I also add “no” to random questions such as “you’re taking me out to dinner tonight, no?”  I think I sound European and sophisticated but I probably sound more like an ass.

  1. Dude…that IS the Puss in Boots look. I never put that together….Brilliant!

  2. I eagerly await his Spring ‘09 collection or which I believe will be inspired by Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.
