Are the times so bad for Days of Our Lives that they can only showcase two sets and two groups of characters? Don’t get me wrong, I genuinely loved Dinner at Victor’s and any scene with EJ is gold, but it was just odd to cut back and forth between the two pairs. I mean, shouldn’t we be focusing on ”Kayla” and Ava or is that something that just happens four days out of five? Speaking of overkill, I’m half-surprised that Max didn’t show up at Victor’s dinner party since he’s been hell-bent on inserting himself into every scene since Grandpa Shawn’s death? For real, what are they doing with this character? I don’t buy him as the next male Brady paragon of strength, especially when he’s romanced several branches of his family tree.
While I think Max’s scenes should be trimmed, I definitely think that Nick should be given more screen time. How awesome would it have been for him to have joined those wacky Kiriakises (Kiriaki?) for dinner, drinks, and disarming insults. By the way, I don’t recall a time where I ever enjoyed Chloe, but her performance at dinner takes the double chocolate with ganache frosting cake. I know that if I was chased out of Europe by Interpol, fighting extradition, and was generally believed to be behind my husband’s disappearance, I wouldn’t shack up at my grandfather-in-law’s mansion. Seriously, where are Craig and Nancy? Has their disappearance ever been addressed? If not, perhaps Victor should delegate some resources to finding them as well.
As much as I love EJ and Sami (when she’s not crying) I’m not entirely sold on the “let’s all play house” subplot with John and Marlena. Part of me thinks that wacky hi-jinks ensue, while the smarter part just believes it’s a way to reduce the number of sets used per day. Also, you know that if John and Marlena live in the same house, they’re going to hook up again and she’ll gasp and coo like a fifteen year old after the Homecoming Dance. If EJ and Sami needed a place to stay, why not The Brady Pub? I thought Caroline was cool with EJ now and Shelle just vacated their room. Problem solved. See how easy that was? Why don’t I get to be a Pillar of Strength?

Oh, you know I agree with you on having Nick get more screentime.
Victor’s dinner fell flat to me. It seemed every “course” that was served was just a repeat of the scene before it: Victor toasts Daniel, Daniel talks surfer talk, Chloe whines, Victor glares.
I don’t care for EJ and Sami going to live with John and Marlena, but Rolf in their scenes was hilarious yesterday.
