WTF was that?
True confession: It took me three days to watch the “special” holiday episodes of Days this week. In fact, I had to watch them in short intervals because they made me so sick I was afraid I was going to experience debilitating, long term nausea. Once I realized that the Chelsea and Daniel propping was central to the festivities, I thought my head was going to explode. But it wasn’t just all about Chan…there was a special appearance by Green, Dena Higley’s favorite new recurring character! Green was all over Bope’s house: especially in the newly customized kitchen! (How the hell did they pay for that? Did Doug donate it? Is Hope still rich? Does Victor give Bo money? Did Grandpa Shawn’s life insurance pay out?)
Let me just come out and say that if even the BBQ wasn’t all about Chelsea and Daniel (which it totally was!), it would still be the lamest BBQ ever. First of all, this is supposed to be the big Brady and Horton get together, yet the attendees are: hosts Bo and Hope, guests of honor Chelsea and Daniel, Maggie and that guy who periodically shows up as Mickey, Victor, Caroline, and Doug and Julie in jaw-droppingly bad, patriotic ensembles. When I was little, I collected Troll dolls and I had one wearing the same, exact costume Julie was sporting. That proved to be a great recollection as it distracted me whenever Julie started in with the Dan propping. Then I had a horrible thought that they were going to start dressing up like my Troll dolls for all occasions which makes me very concerned for this year’s Thanksgiving episodes.
Here’s another thing I don’t get: since when does everyone like Victor again? I swear, this show is so hard to keep up with. Victor shows up to this shindig and Caroline greets him warmly. That I understand, since they have a history and a son together, and Caroline’s trying to beat Kate for the hottest GILF on the Block (never going to happen, btw). Then, out of nowhere, Bo and Hope are equally happy to see Victor. Weren’t they just trying to shake him down for information about the John Black business two weeks ago? Then, before that, with the whole Phillip and Claire nonsense? I can understand Bo, since Victor is his dad and all, but doesn’t Hope not-so-secretly hate Victor and vice versa? Whatever, it was an excuse for Victor to be on my screen so it made me happy.
What made me sad was the aforementioned, less than stellar turnout for the cookout. I love how Sami and the Twins were mentioned several times, but were no where to be found. Also missing: Max “Rage” Brady, his niece girlfriend, Stephanie, Steve and Kayla, killjoys Abe and Lexie, never to be seen again Nick, and the Former Widow Evans Black, who was too busy gasping at a mansion across town. That was the saddest BBQ of all time. No wonder the power went out. Although, maybe the power figured that the light emitting from the love that is Chelsea and Daniel was so bright that electricity was trivial. You see, if there’s one thing I’ve learned in the last few months, it’s that anyone can convert to being totally Green in a matter of days and Chelsea and Daniel are love. *
*Lies.
P.S. How hysterical was Monday’s preview where Kate walks into the backyard, sees Chelsea and Daniel and then faints in the most over the top, Scarlett O’Hara way possible?

Don’t you remember, the reason they love Victor is because he helped save Bo’s life by arranging for his Godson Daniel to come in and doctor him up. Then that makes him partly responsible for Kate’s recovery too since Daniel figured out her condition.
My hope is there is a reason for this propping. After I calmed down, many of what they were saying was anvilish, that Bo needed to let Chelsea make her own mistakes and that Daniel wouldn’t hurt her.
Besides, do you read spoilers? If you do, go check out nolebucgrl’s latest entry cause it has what we call “The greatest spoiler to ever be spoiled” in regards to Chan. I hope it spells the end of this horrific couple who should never have been paired up in the first place, much less in this ludicrous OTT way.
Nick is on Monday BTW.
Hee, yes the holiday spectacular party was quite a dud wasn’t it? You mentioned all the missing people of course, and the people who were there were doing nothing but propping Chan and talking about Chan. I had soap rage all through the episode. Even EJ in the white stripes would not calm my hate.
I am looking forward to Kate’s faint, should be a riot. And I cannot wait until the 14th. I hope Chan ends for good after all of this. I hate them with the power of a thousand suns.
I also did not understand the happy welcome for Victor. Caroline being ok with him was one thing, but Bo & Hope were just asses to him the last time they were in the same room. I’m surprised Victor even bothered to show up.
It was just a very lame party.
Tripp: Oh I am all spoilered up, however, the Chan rage will burn strong until then.
NoleBucGrl: I could watch Kate fainting over and over again (like Marlena hitting her head against the door), but I’m sure The Good Doctor will examine her and he’ll be propped to high heaven.
Hello all. I thought I would show up here and sound off with you wonderful Chan haters. ITA about the lame barbecue. Where was everyone. And what was the deal with using last years decorations? Is it part of the whole green thing or just a sign of how desperatley budget crunched Days now is? They could have skipped the awful costumes of Doug and Julie and bought some new decorations. Speaking of D&J, how did they keep from having heat strokes in those things? The heat wave was supposed to be why the power was out, so how did they keep from passing out or at the very least sweating like pigs – ewwww. Now for the Chan hate. They were sucking face worse than Jarlena – how bad is that?? I was so wanting Bo and Victor to gang up on him and beat his ass right there in front of everyone. Speaking of Victor, I think he was there for the sole purpose of finding out about Chan. Thank God he was negative about them! As I have said on tripp’s and nolebucgrl’s blogs, I want Victor to put a hit out on him and do it ASAP.
Oh yeah, you’re right on that front. Not to mention, doesn’t Victor stroke out this week too? I’m sure Daniel will be the lord and savior again. I hope Bope have Ciara in some kind of protective bubble, she and Philip are probably next in line in the Daniel prop watch.
Glad to know that Chan hate is burning strong and very happy to know you know that spoiler. Cause it’s what got me through the latter half of the party scenes (sadly, the first half we didn’t know about it so it was like chewing on wood to get through it).
It’s amazing to me how one couple can basically kill my enthusiasm for a TV show but centering events around them make it difficult for me to ignore them.
Welcome Mosaicplum…I am glad you mentioned the recycled decorations. Some decorations are meant to be used year after year like the Horton Christmas Ornaments. However, star spangled mylar balloons don’t fit into this category.
And yes, I do believe Victor is going to stroke out. Poor Victor, he’s been through so much and poor Jen Aniston is too busy with John Mayer to do anything about it.
re: Victor’s inevitable stroke: not to mention that another certain famous bad guy is returning to town and for some reason, it’s against NBC law to allow JA to be on the show at the same time as him!
