I’ll give it to Grant Harrison: he’s managed to age, move to Port Charles and re-invent himself as an FBI Agent poised to take down Jason. Sadly, Agent Grant Harrison doesn’t realize that Port Charles is much like Hazzard County, GA and Jason and Spinelli are the Duke Boys.
In order to trap Jason, Agent Harrison has enlisted a female Spinelli to bring down The Jackal (yes, I feel stupider for typing that). As this is still technically a soap opera, Maxie got jealous, seduced Spinelli and then had the mother of all fights. My favorite part was when Maxie called Jason out on being brain damaged! Of course, she then went on to berate Spinelli and he called her out in turn, but I’m glad it was said. If Jason really wanted to protect those that he cared about, he’d try a little harder to to push Spin away.
Without reading spoilers, I’m sure that Spinelli will be sent to jail, sit in the Jason Morgan and Johnny Zacchara Memorial Interrogation Room for a few days, while Sam, Maxie and Jason try to clear his good name. Then in order to facilitate the Jason/Sam reunion, Agent Harrison will kindap Sam and hide her in a cave in Banff. There, Jason will find her and they’ll reunite just as the cave collapses. So what if they’re stealing from Another World? Methinks that if the writers are going to “borrow” story ideas they should at least take them from good soap operas instead of mob movies and chick lit.
Hee, I’ll give them this much, that Maxie/Spinelli confrontation was actually well written and rather heartwrenching. They really brought it in that scene. And yeah, her Jason comments rocked.
It is nice to see Grant Harrison again, aged though he may be. It’s just great to hear that voice, I’d know who it was even if I wasn’t looking at the screen. I’m thinking they won’t bother to rip AW though, I’m sure they’ll go back to ripping another gangster movie instead.
I still don’t care for Maxie and Spinelli as a couple. I want them to be friends, flawed friends, but friends. Speaking of Another World, I liked how they had platonic friendships: Cass and Felicia, Vicky and Jake (before they hooked up). I mean, GH tries to tell us that Jason and Carly are best friends, but I think that’s only in Carly’s head.
Oh, I think that to Jason Carly and Jason are platonic friends, to Carly they are each other’s true loves and will eventually be non-platonic again.
